In our latest Meet the Team post, we catch up with Marga Campos, who has been a Full Stack Developer at Invision360 since July 2022.

Known as much for her creativity as for her technical and problem-solving skills, we delve into Marga’s life, inside and outside of work, to find out why she lives for Invision360 ‘eureka moments’.

Marga, as a child, what job did you want to do when you grew up?

“Well, I’ve always had a passion for creating things and solving problems. As a child, I remember having two dream careers: a singer/songwriter and a mathematics professor at a university while working in investigation. I know that they’re worlds apart from one another, but growing up, I thought I could be both, a bit like Hannah Montana!

“At my core, I just think I have always had a deep love for creating and discovering new things, which I definitely got from my mum. She used to work in investigation, and in particular, immunology. I would make my own gadgets, write poetry, draw… and I spent hours and hours solving math problems and exploring electronics with my dad.”

How does your current role lean into your creative and analytical side?

“As a Full Stack Developer, I am responsible, alongside other developers in the team, for the entire software development process, from designing and building the user interface of the Invision360 tools (front-end) to developing and maintaining the back-end architecture.

“My creative and analytical minds are satisfied daily. Your creative mind comes up with ideas (on how something could look or work) and your analytical side makes them happen by keeping them useful and feasible.”

Name three things you love about your job

“Firstly, I love that no two days are the same. One day I am working on a new feature, another finding a fix, and the next designing a new solution for Invision360’s applications.

“Secondly, I love solving problems, and so I live for those eureka moments when suddenly, I know what I need to do to achieve the required outcome.

“Lastly, I love seeing things come to life. Nothing beats finishing a project and seeing a new feature being used.”

How would your friends/colleagues describe you?

“Well, I thought I’d take the opportunity to ask them with my employee guest-blog coming up and the main words that came up were: kind, perfectionist, shy and decisive, which I’d have to agree with!”

What are your favourite things to do outside of work?

“I love drawing and animation. The idea of creating something from nothing and having it look however you imagined it, fascinates me. I also enjoy reading, dancing, and playing around with electronics. I must confess, I code a lot outside of work too.”

Where is the most amazing place you have ever been?

“I have been lucky enough to have travelled and seen amazing places like the Belvedere in Vienna and the Jules Verne museum in Nantes. Both are incredible and really worth seeing, but I must say, the most amazing place in the world for me is an ocean walkway in my hometown. Walking through it always brings me peace.”

What’s your favourite fictional character and why?

“I would have to say one from my favourite show: Todd Chavez from BoJack Horseman. I relate to him in a lot of ways. He is very creative and works tirelessly when he discovers something that interests him. Without spoiling too much, I love how he grows in the series and is always there to help others.”

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

“You always have time to do something, you just need to choose to do it over something else. It is something that my mum would say to me in Spanish as a child when I had so many activities and wanted to do more, or when I felt like I was taking on too much. Her words taught me how to prioritise; that time is limited and that I am responsible for whatever I choose to do with it.

“It’s all about taking ownership of the decisions you make and being okay with them, and if not, doing something to change them, which has helped me to be organised.”
